Urban Flight

Social Experiments that have failed
Or purposely planned gone right
Caused the end of many great cities
Which is resulting in Urban Flight

Now much of the best’s nearly gone
Which is really such a shame
That the one-time happily content citizens
Have now all but left the game

Like birds they simply took flight
Away from the problems and the dangers
But perhaps several years from now
Many will stop being strangers

Not sure if these cities can be saved
For many of the ex-citizens are now living
In a much more pleasing environment
Because they just got tired of giving

When asked about their future plans
Of returning the mantra is “never”
But who really knows
For nothing really lasts forever
