The Battlefield

It’s said that love is a battlefield
Surely words we’ve all heard before
Bodies, minds and spirits sprawled across it
In a seemingly never-ending war

So many purple hearts presented
To those fallen or wounded on their way
Brave souls who keep daring the perils
For a victory to win the great day

These battlefields of love that we fight on
Are fraught with peril so we must remain smart
To win the war in the end is our mission
And discovering the one perfect heart
